Moisture Wicking

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.

Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away, so foot fungus and smelly odor will not be a problem while wearing our products.

Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials.

Super comfy and warm without any scratchiness

I was out of town for a canoe race last April and the weather got suddenly very cold. The evening before the race, I drove to a high-end outdoor gear store and this beanie was the only winter hat they had in stock. I'd never heard of Minus33. It looked thin and was twice the price I planned to pay, but I had no choice and got it.

So glad I did! I stayed warm and won my class at the race the next day, and have worn it for several other races. It lets me dress lightly under my PFD (life vest) and control my body temp by putting on or removing the hat.

I thought it might be itchy, as I have lots of itchy wool and alpaca gear, but this hat is not at all itchy. It fits without slipping down, but isn't tight or pinchy. I have plenty of room to double it over at the brim to keep my ears warm. It's warm down to about 25F and I even wear it indoors. (I work next to a window and it's 10F here in Wisconsin as I write.) I like it so much I came to the website today to get some other Minus33 gear.

Very warm for a very large head!

I always have trouble finding a good warm heavyweight beanie that not only covers my head, but pulls down on my ears, because I have a very big head.

This one does a great job! So much so that I can pull it down and then flip it up to give it a double layer for my ears. The Marino wool is extremely warm and does as good as a job as my Patagonia beanie which I wanted to replace.

Great customer service when I called prior to finalizing my order. Very responsive.

I’ll definitely be buying more from their product lines

If you want extra warmth for your ears and your head, this is it. I bought this one because I had previously bought the lightweight wool. Don't get me wrong. It's good i just need something a little bit more for extra warmth.
And reasonable prices.

The fabric is lovely, but the fit is so loose (and I don't have an especially small head) that the benefit of a heavyweight hat is completely defeated. Completely fails to keep my head warm in cold weather.

Warm and comfy. Stays on but not too tight. For some reason, the peak (if that's the right word) sticks up a little and catches when I pull up a hood. My other beanies are smoother on top but are overly snug.

Warmth for your giant noggin

It was 19F and windy the other night and I wore this to go down my steep hill to the barn. It stopped the wind from reaching my ears and is plenty thick, so while I wasn't out in the weather more than ten minutes, I completely shrugged off the wind and cold, which a thinner wool, or acrylic hat wouldn't have allowed me to do.

Also, the blaze orange color is arresting. You will see it, which matters to me since I overheard two men talking about getting shot at during deer season, one repeated "if it's brown, it's down" several times. I stood there shuffling my feet in my brown barn coat, came home and bought this hat.

The one thing I'll say is that it's a giant hat. My head is about 23", so largeish. Before I opened it, I looked at the hat in the package and noticed that side-to-side, it's huge. There was a guy working on my stove and I asked him if it looked like a giant hat and he laughed and agreed. I put some other beanies from REI, Bass Pro, Nordstrom, etc. up against it and it's at least an inch wider in diameter. Maybe it's sized up so you can wear it over a balaclava? Maybe it'll shrink in the wash? Dunno. It's warm, blocks the wind, and will help me not get shot, so that's a win. I think you'll love it, especially if you look like an orange on a toothpick.

Nice hat, soft, good quality. The midweight hat is probably warmer since this hat isn’t really long enough to fold the cuff. Would be way warmer if it was the same size as the midweight hat.
