Benefits of Merino Wool
Moisture Wicking
Merino wool is the best fiber to regulate moisture. It does this by absorbing sweat from your skin and releasing it into the air. Whether you're hiking, running, biking, on the job, or just relaxing at home, our wool helps keep you dry and comfortable all day long.
Soft & Comfortable
Merino wool fibers are much finer than traditional wool, creating a luxuriously soft feel that won’t itch or irritate your skin. Comfortable enough for everyday wear and gentle enough for sensitive skin, it’s a natural choice for underwear, base layers and next-to-skin comfort.
Highly Breathable
Merino wool’s unique structure allows air to circulate freely, helping to regulate your body temperature in both hot and cold weather conditions. Whether you're layering up for winter or staying cool in summer, Merino keeps you comfortable by letting your skin breathe.
Anti-Microbial
Merino wool naturally resists odor-causing bacteria, keeping you fresher for longer. No lingering smells, even after extended wear. Perfect for travel, outdoor adventures, and everyday life.
Insulates When Wet
Merino wool can hold up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy against the skin. Unlike cotton or synthetic fabrics, it keeps insulating when damp, making it a smart choice for unpredictable weather and high-output activity.
Fire Resistant
Merino wool is naturally fire-resistant and self-extinguishing. It will not melt or stick to your skin like synthetic fabrics. A trusted option for first responders, campfire safety, or any high-heat environment.
UV Protection
Our Merino wool clothing helps protect you from the sun’s harmful rays, with different levels of UPF based on fabric weight:
-
Microweight (145 GSM): UPF 20
-
Lightweight (170 GSM): UPF 25
-
Midweight (245 GSM): UPF 50+
-
Heavyweight (400 GSM): UPF 50+
These natural UV-blocking properties make Merino wool ideal for long days or the beach or above treeline.
Renewable and Sustainable
Merino wool is a natural, biodegradable fiber with a low environmental footprint. Grown by Australian Merino sheep and shorn seasonally, it is a renewable material that supports responsible farming practices.

Benefits of Merino Wool
Bought these in preparation for my winter trips back to the northeast. I usually buy 100 percent merino socks and they start to lose integrity after a wash and a few wears. I can already tell these will hold up much better and the fit is more secure. The blended material also gives extra comfort when wearing leather sole boots. Will add a few more to my rotation soon.
Hi Richard,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! We’re thrilled to hear that our Midweight Boot Socks are delivering the durability, secure fit, and comfort you were looking for and especially with leather sole boots. Combining merino wool with durable fibers to help them hold up wash after wash is exactly what we aim for.
Safe travels on your upcoming winter trips back to the Northeast, and we look forward to outfitting your sock drawer again soon!

Nice fit. They have about sixty one percent merino wool in them and are ready to keep my feet warm this upcoming winter. It’s slowly sneaking around the corner ready to pounce on fall. They feel very comfortable and are nice and soft. They are thin but I don’t know if that will affect there effectiveness. I will know soon enough but with the amount of wool in them I’m betting they keep my feet warm as indicated. Four Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!!
Ordered these for medium hiking duties. I’m a fan of merino - naturally wicking, naturally odor resistant, and super temperature control. These thing make my piggies happy, give them SOUL.Yeah. Speaking of sole, the bottom part of the feet, that is happy too. These are cushioned in all the right places. Well. Cushioned the whole length of the bottom, but I should say cushioned and offer some compression support. They didn’t seem all that cushioned when I first opened them, but boy howdy, the cushion is awesomely effective. There’s all sorts of technical terms like cuff and welt - not sure about stuff like that. Am sure they grip the calf just right, they feel comfy, and feet are happy. How do I know they are happy? Well, I asked them, that’s how. They stopped barking like they normally do on a long hike, and sighed happily.OrWas that just my overactive imagination? If made in the USA is your thing, well, these apparently are just that to boot. All I care about is happy feet.Ok, they are slightly on the scratchy side for merino, but on the inside pretty soft. That’s the only down side that comes to mind.Feet. Happy. Time for me to leave you alone and me to take a hike....
These are great socks, well made, made in the USA with domestic and imported yarns, and I recommend them. I will write a more in depth review, but I wanted to submit this and pictures of the size chart - something that was missing when I ordered - to help others avoid ordering the wrong size.
I like to hike and cross-country ski and this is a great pair of socks for either of those activities. The socks are made from high quality Merino wool that feels great against the skin. The socks are thick enough to keep you warm, but not so bulky that they create "hot spots" where the material bunches up against your feet. There is no uncomfortable stitching in the toe, and both the heel and toe are reinforced for extra durability. This is a wonderful pair of socks that is perfect for cold weather outdoor activities.

This pair of socks is a dream! I got large size and it was perfect on my feet! I really like this weight and love them in my boots while walking in snow!
Very warm and comfortable! Perfect for wearing in work boots when it's cold, even very cold with uninsulated boots. Highly recommend.
I got these socks for winter running and am very pleased with them. The midweight has a nice amount of cushioning in them that makes them comfortable when running (a little extra bounce in your step). I got the boot length to provide a little extra warmth on my lower legs in the cool weather and they stay up well while running. After an hour and half of running my feet are still warm and not clammy feeling unlike cotton. Most importantly for running, the toe construction is smooth without a rough seam to cause blisters.

I wore the Midweight Wool Boot Socks on a cold multi day trip to Mt. Rainier, and they impressed me more than I expected. At one point I accidentally stepped into a stream, and water splashed over the top of the sock. I instantly thought my day was ruined, but I was wrong. The socks did their job, dried quickly, and kept my feet warm and comfortable so I could keep going on our adventure. Durable, reliable, and worth every step.

Steven D & The Minus33 Team
When I received an email from Minus33 claiming their new S76 was on par with my beloved 1405 socks I immediately emailed them to state my disbelief. Steven D emailed me back and stated their case. So I ordered 4 pair in Aug. 2024 and have reserved my review until now May 2025. The Minus33 S76 (I do not like all the names for the socks, S76 is sooo much easier) have been in the weekly rotation every week since I received them. Hoping to prove my point (I am serious about my socks) that my 1405’s rule the roost, however, I still continue to pull out the S76’s first even though there are 8 pairs of much newer 1405’s in the drawer with them.
Why is this?
For me it is totally the top band construction, it does not leave the dents/impressions in my cankle region that the 1405’s do. At all! In this regard they are more like the 1953, another favorite. Also I have to say the quality of the yarns must be better as they are STILL unbelievably comfortable and dense even after 9 months of continuous use. What this tells me is that the wool is staying in the sock and not coming out in the lint catcher as fast as the previous favorite, but i do typically get 12 to 18 months out of the others before they get too thin. So the evaluation goes on. The next socks I buy will be the S76, i like to have 8 pairs in the rotation. I do keep the pair matched together and foot specific by uniquely marking the sock by the pair and foot. They are always worn together as a set, on the same feet, so one doesn’t get more use that its partner.
These are a great sock. Please keep making them. FWIW, i only wear Minus33 wool t-shirts. The LW SS crew and MW LS crew are on all but 3 3 or 4 months of the year. They are far superior to your competitors offerings which I stopped investigating years ago.

Thank you for taking the time to put our S76 socks to the test and for the great feedback! We are happy to hear that after 9 months, you still pull out the S76’s first, even though there are 8 pairs of much newer 1405's in there. We believe that our USA made socks can stand with the best of them and it's great to hear your experience reflects that. Thank you for your continued support as well and we look forward to hearing how the socks continue to perform for you!
Best,
-Steven D

If you are reading this, I assume you are prepared to pay the price for these socks. Let me say, go ahead and do it. As someone used to buying his socks in bundles at Wal-Mart, it was a leap for me to invest in these wool socks. But I am so glad I did.
These socks are warm and very comfortable. They hold up remarkably well, so I'm convinced I'll get my money's use out of them before they wear out. And they look good, but that is so secondary to their practical usefulness. My first pair was a crew sock, but I love these boot socks even better.
Take advantage of sales and special offers if need be, but don't miss out because of the price. They are definitely worth it.
Dear valued customer,
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a wonderful review for our Mountain Heritage Midweight Boot Socks. We are thrilled to hear that you find them comfortable and worth the investment.
We completely understand the hesitation in paying a bit more for quality socks, but we are glad to hear that they have exceeded your expectations. We take pride in our products and it means a lot to us that you are satisfied with your purchase.
We hope you continue to enjoy your boot socks and take advantage of any sales or special offers in the future. Thank you for choosing our brand and for your support.
Warm regards,
Steven D

I just test drove my first pair of these great socks. My test is, gentle wash, then wear for a few days. They have to pass the smell and fit test - they can't stink and they can't loosen up so much that they start sliding down my leg. These socks passed both tests with high marks :-)

Fits Great, good at wicking moisture. I'm switching from Darn Tough. They're great socks but minus t33 is just better.
Used these on a hunt. Cold and damp conditions. My feet stayed warm and dry the whole time! Other socks feel damp afterwards but these did not.
Great mid-weight socks. They are warm and comfortable and hopefully will last for many seasons.

Seems like when I was notified of the item being shipped last monday it was a false report. Item arrived today (friday). I will never use USPS shipping via amazon again becuase of how janky this went. The socks feel amazing. Socks were properly sized. Nice and warm.
