Benefits of Merino Wool
Moisture Wicking
Merino wool is the best fiber to regulate moisture. It does this by absorbing sweat from your skin and releasing it into the air. Whether you're hiking, running, biking, on the job, or just relaxing at home, our wool helps keep you dry and comfortable all day long.
Soft & Comfortable
Merino wool fibers are much finer than traditional wool, creating a luxuriously soft feel that won’t itch or irritate your skin. Comfortable enough for everyday wear and gentle enough for sensitive skin, it’s a natural choice for underwear, base layers and next-to-skin comfort.
Highly Breathable
Merino wool’s unique structure allows air to circulate freely, helping to regulate your body temperature in both hot and cold weather conditions. Whether you're layering up for winter or staying cool in summer, Merino keeps you comfortable by letting your skin breathe.
Anti-Microbial
Merino wool naturally resists odor-causing bacteria, keeping you fresher for longer. No lingering smells, even after extended wear. Perfect for travel, outdoor adventures, and everyday life.
Insulates When Wet
Merino wool can hold up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy against the skin. Unlike cotton or synthetic fabrics, it keeps insulating when damp, making it a smart choice for unpredictable weather and high-output activity.
Fire Resistant
Merino wool is naturally fire-resistant and self-extinguishing. It will not melt or stick to your skin like synthetic fabrics. A trusted option for first responders, campfire safety, or any high-heat environment.
UV Protection
Our Merino wool clothing helps protect you from the sun’s harmful rays, with different levels of UPF based on fabric weight:
-
Microweight (145 GSM): UPF 20
-
Lightweight (170 GSM): UPF 25
-
Midweight (235 GSM): UPF 50+
-
Heavyweight (400 GSM): UPF 50+
These natural UV-blocking properties make Merino wool ideal for long days or the beach or above treeline.
Renewable and Sustainable
Merino wool is a natural, biodegradable fiber with a low environmental footprint. Grown by Australian Merino sheep and shorn seasonally, it is a renewable material that supports responsible farming practices.

A SOCK OVERHAUL
We got our sock machines set up in May of 2019, and hit the ground running. We knew our customers wanted a sock for every occasion, with heights and cushion levels for all activities. By combining our historic textile knowledge, and using what we learned after redesigning our classic sock styles, we were able to envision a brand new sock collection that could truly meet your needs.
YARN SELECTIONS

WOOL/NYLON YARNS
We dialed in our yarn selection, using a combination of merino/nylon as the main body of the socks. These yarns deliver a high merino wool content, with the extra durability of nylon.

HIGH WOOL CONTENT
We have packed in huge quantities of wool next to your skin, using the synthetics only as needed to improve fit and durability.

TECHNICAL FEATURES
Stretch nylon yarns are light enough to keep the merino content high while giving shape and fit to the sock. Lightweight plating also adds durability to high wear zones on the heel and toe.
I own quite a few pair of the OTC lightweight socks and they are amazing and holding up great. I decided to try these micro-weight as I was due for some more biking socks. So far so good. I am glad they are US made... hopefully you folks can start making more products in NH! Keep up the good work.

My husband who is diabetic and has neuropathy in his feet was having issues wearing regular socks. The seam at the toe was causing him a lot of discomfort. He LOVES these socks. He no long has trouble with his toes with the socks. He wears for work (works in a storeroom so on foot a lot), playing golf, and just general use.

Great sock. It could be even thinner around the toes but otherwise perfect.
Over the past few mountain bike seasons I've come to only wear merino socks. I have lots of different brands at this point and these are at the top of my list. They are comfortable, thin enough to not be too hot and they don't roll down.
Robert,
Thank you for your review of our Liner - Crew Wool Socks Mountain Heritage! We're glad to hear that they're one of your top choices for mountain biking. Our merino socks are designed to provide both comfort and breathability, so we're happy to know that they've met your expectations.
