  1. 3.5 out of 5

    Robert Powers - :

So, I bought three pair 6 years ago. They were not the only socks I wore, but before I retired I wore boots for a living. At least 6 days a week and many Sundays. I've hiked in them, rode horses in them, gone sailing in them and worn them to church. They are not too thick to wear with dress shoes, and they are long enough to prevent the cursed hairy gap if I cross my legs. They go past the chafing edge of 12" rubber boots on a boat they make getting a dress riding boot on with no zip a challenge, but they are nice when riding in cold weather. I put them under my breeches instead of over as they will slide down and bunch while riding. I like hiking socks that hug my instep and do not bunch. If these did that I'd give them 5 stars. No holes to the toes, just getting thread bear across the top of the instep and heel. I'm buying more and going to see how the hikers compare to the ones at the local outfitter that cost twice as much.

Total Easy Care
Total Easy Care TEC

Total Easy Care (TEC) Merino apparel is designed for today’s busy lifestyle. Total Easy Care Merino garments are all machine-washable, and are suitable for tumble drying. Even after frequent laundering they retain an ‘as new’ appearance. They won’t shrink, lose their shape, fade or color-bleed. They remain soft and comfortable for the life of the garment. TEC is a textile innovation used by Minus33 that was developed by the Woolmark Company.

Moisture Wicking
Moisture Wicking

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere. Wool is a classic natural insulator, but is just as effective in warmer weather due to its rapid moisture wicking ability. Learn more about wool properties.

Anti-Microbial and Odor Resistant
Anti Microbial and Odor Resistant

With less moisture comes less odor. Minus33 Merino Wool resists against microbes and odor, so foot fungus and smelly odor will NOT be a problem while wearing our products. Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away. This means you don’t have to wash wool as often. Less laundry means less water being used, benefiting our planet. Learn more about wool properties.

Insulates When Wet
Insulates When Wet

Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, whether it be from sweat, weather, or water bodies, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials. This is especially important if you are in a survival situation, and can help prevent or delay hypothermia depending on the conditions. Learn more about wool properties.

Fire Resistant
Fire Resistant

Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do. For this reason, merino is popular among military, firefighting, and law enforcement communities. Learn more about wool properties.
